Sanchez featured in the Glamour 90s, Shaping the 90s and Barbelles (2007) Rootstein collections. She is an actress and model best known for her roles in La puce et le privé (1981), Iris (2016) and Life Is a Bed of Roses (1983). Her start in modelling came via photographer Helmut Newton who was drawn to her feisty personality and created one of his most recognisable images; that of a naked Violetta reclined on a sofa, smoking.
Newton cast Sanchez as a brothel madam in a Saint Laurent campaign in 1981 inspired by the back stage enseble of actors and models chattign and smoking between takes.
Perched on the makeup tables, chatting, smoking, making calls on the phone on a wall. It was almost this perfect image of a brothel with a lady waiting to be called.
Sanchez was a regular at Saint Laurent shows and worked for Moschino, Gaultier and Thierry Mugler. In 2014 she was asked to headline Lanvin’s 125th anniversary show and in 2015 alongside her daughter Luz Godin appeared in Lanvins S/S15 campaign.
